Listingİstanbul Program was Promoted at the 17th Euro Finance Week

Borsa İstanbul attended the 2nd German-Turkish Economic Forum, which was held on November 20 in Frankfurt as part of the 17th Euro Finance Week, a week-long event series that featured conferences, forums and panels gathering top finance executives and professionals in the Eurozone and from neighboring regions. The 2nd German-Turkish Economic Forum was on the agenda of the “Future of Europe and Its Surrounding New Markets Conference”, which commenced on the fourth day of the Euro Finance Week event.
As one of the sponsors of the Forum, Borsa İstanbul attended the event with an exhibition stand promoting the Listingİstanbul Program, and Borsa İstanbul specialists provided detailed information in regards to what the Turkish capital markets may offer to German companies in terms of fulfilling their capital requirements.
Borsa İstanbul Executive Vice President, Dr. Mustafa Kemal Yılmaz delivered the keynote speech of the Forum. In his speech, Mr. Yılmaz, among other things, stated “…we aim to make Borsa İstanbul a formidable venue where the foreign companies may benefit for raising funds by issuing equity or debt instruments through IPOs and/or to qualified investors. Currently, 63% of the equities in Borsa İstanbul are held by foreign investors, which indicate Borsa İstanbul has already achieved high foreign interest on the demand side of the market. We work towards attracting a similar interest on the supply side by encouraging foreign companies to list their securities in Borsa İstanbul.”
Drawing attention to Germany as a key potential country for the Listingİstanbul initiative because “…it hosts a population of more than 3 million people with Turkish origin, Turkish entrepreneurs in Germany employ more than 400 thousand people, they generate EUR 40 billion in revenues, and EUR 8 billion in investments…” Mr. Yılmaz concluded his remarks by stating that Borsa İstanbul will continue coming to Germany on different occasions with the goal of connecting the pool of investors in Borsa İstanbul with the German companies seeking capital.
Following the keynote speeches, a panel, which included; Mr. Yılmaz, Managing Director of Angermann M&A International Ali Taşbaşı, Founder of Enexion Bjorn Vortisch, and the CEO of Denizbank AG Ahmet Mesut Ersoy, was held in order to discuss potential areas and cooperation opportunities. Turkish, German as well as international participants showed a keen interest to the Forum, which concluded with high remarks.
Following the event, Borsa İstanbul delegation resumed its “Germany program” by paying consecutive visits to Turkish-German companies located in the vicinity of Frankfurt, Mannheim and Dusseldorf, respectively to invite them to benefit from Borsa İstanbul offerings.
