A New Era in Corporate Reporting: Integrated Reporting” seminar was held in Istanbul on October 21 by Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) -member of Borsa İstanbul Sustainability Platform- with the support of Corporate Governance Association of Turkey, and Global Compact.

At the seminar, Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) promoted its integrated reporting guide. Borsa İstanbul Executive Vice President Associate Prof. Mustafa K. Yılmaz took part in the panel entitled “Integrating Sustainability into Business”. In his speech, Yılmaz emphasized that sustainability reporting has spread to numerous countries in the last decade and found itself a place in the mainstream reporting area, and added that companies nevertheless lag behind in integrating sustainability in their business strategies. Yılmaz pointed out that the crowd of information in both sustainability reports and financial reports fails to address the information needs of stakeholders while stakeholders require more brief, clear and comprehensible information. Yılmaz said that integrated reports based on the principle of brevity and clarity, offering more specific information, may be a solution in this regard. Yılmaz also made suggestions on the roadmap for integrated reporting, which is in its initial phase in Turkey.

The panel entitled “A New Era in Corporate Reporting: Integrated Reporting” was chaired by Boğaziçi University member of staff and International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) Turkey Ambassador Vedat Akgiray. Panelists were Borsa İstanbul Executive Vice President Associate Prof. Mustafa K. Yılmaz and Global Compact Turkey Chairman Dr. Yılmaz Argüden. The seminar was opened by Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) Chairwoman Cansen Başaran Symes. IIRC CEO Paul Druckman also delivered a speech at the seminar.
