The event, which was organized by Turkish Businessmen and Industrialists in Europe (ATİAD), was inaugurated by the consecutive keynote speeches of ATİAD Chairman Aziz Sarıyar, Düsseldorf Metro Area Mayor Thomas Gaisel and Borsa İstanbul Chairman Dr. Talat Ulussever. Dr. Ulussever began his address by drawing a comprehensive frame for the Turkish economic outlook, the recent developments in the Turkish capital markets and the products and services Borsa İstanbul offers to investors as well as issuers. Dr. Ulussever concluded his remarks by stating: “Turkish capital markets has been positioning itself as a center of attraction for the investment world, and as always, Borsa İstanbul’s ongoing and future efforts will be crucial for the most strategic projects”.

Following the keynote speeches, the program continued with back to back forums covering a number of hot topics including: “Investment Opportunities in Germany”, “Digital Transformation and Innovation” and “Prospects of Turkish Economy”. The forum session titled: “Financial Industry in Turkey: Opportunities and Risks” was attended by  Şahinler Holding Chairman Kemal Şahin, Do & Co Aktiengesellschaft CFO Klaus Petermann and Borsa İstanbul Executive Vice President Dr. Mustafa Kemal Yılmaz, where the participants discussed the opportunities presented by the Turkish financial industry.

Mr. Şahin, among other things, voiced the opinions and experiences of entrepreneurs in Germany, and Mr. Petermann shared Do & Co’s experience as a dual-listed company in Vienna and İstanbul, while Dr. Yılmaz stressed the importance of capital markets by pinpointing areas that the Turkish capital markets in general and Borsa İstanbul in particular can support Turkish enterprises operating in Germany. In reply to the moderator’s question, Mr. Yılmaz said: “Turkish entrepreneurs in Germany employ more than 400 thousand people and they generate EUR 40 billion in revenue, EUR 8 billion in investments, and we expect this trend to continue in the next decade.  We are working hard to position Borsa İstanbul as a strong brand and welcome all Turkish and German companies to benefit from Borsa İstanbul’s liquidity opportunities, global visibility and low listing cost”. The session was engaging and the audience interest was evident from the questions that were forwarded to the forumists. In reply to a question, Mr. Petermann said: “Our IPO and listing in Borsa İstanbul was a strategic move, which not only presented us the capital to fund our growth and stimulate our market cap through the ample liquidity Borsa İstanbul provided, but also our dual listing in the Turkish market increased our brand awareness on a global scale. Within this context, we are glad we made the decision few years back and looking forward to many years to come as a listed company in Borsa İstanbul.”

At the event, Borsa İstanbul booth was visited by hundreds of German and Turkish visitors, and Borsa İstanbul Marketing and Sales Department officials Adnan Serhat Görgün, Mert Süzgen and Salih Kandaş provided comprehensive information in regards to listing in Borsa İstanbul, its markets and the financing alternative offered. Simultaneously, one-on-one meetings with companies were also conducted by Borsa İstanbul officials conveying in depth information to potential issuers.
