BISTECH Wins the Best Project Award!

Borsa İstanbul was awarded the “Çetin Ceviz Best Project Award” with BISTECH, in the National Project Profession Conference (UPMK2016), the most extensive project managers gathering in Turkey.
National Project Profession Conference (UPMK2016) was held at Mövenpick Hotel in Ankara on March 10, 2016, by the Turkish Institute of Project Management Profession, with the main theme of "The Power of Transformation, The Transformation of Power”.
Speeches, panels and the “Çetin Ceviz Awards” award ceremony were held during the program of UPMK2016, which was carried out for the 7th time this year, and which serves as a professional networking event for the project managers who take part in the discussions of national issues regarding the promotion of the profession.
Cemal EROĞLU, our manager in Borsa İstanbul, who was responsible for the management of the overall beta and acceptance tests of the first phase of NASDAQ BISTECH transformation, together with the project managers and the test teams in Sweden/US/Romania/Australia/Turkey, participated in the conference with his speech titled “International Program Management”.
The “Çetin Ceviz Awards”, first granted in 2014 after the acceptance of the Project Manager Profession Standard, are granted for the third time this year. The evaluation is made on the basis of the contribution of the nominees to the profession, to their projects and to the country. The last of the nine categories of the awards is the “Çetin Ceviz Best Project Award”.
The Best Project: BISTECH
Borsa İstanbul was awarded the “Çetin Ceviz Best Project Award” with the technologic transformation project “BISTECH”, which targets the overall renewal of all systems of both Borsa İstanbul and its subsidiary Takasbank.
During the BISTECH transformation, in order to maintain that all systems and stakeholders are ready for the next agenda and to ensure that the go-live process is seamless, live rehearsals and go-live tests have continuously been performed for three months.

- from over 100 corporations, including Borsa İstanbul, Takasbank, MKK, Capital Markets Board of Turkey (SPK), intermediary institutions, data vendors, integrator companies and NASDAQ have participated in the project
- for a period of 2 years.
BISTECH has been the largest and the most extensive project among the nearly 80 different projects globally executed by Borsa İstanbul’s strategic partner NASDAQ. Since the most important criterion in critical markets such as the exchanges is the fact that the systems must not face a discontinuity for even just one second, the fact that the transformation was handled with zero error was announced as “a first” by NASDAQ itself.
Thanks to the BISTECH project, which is one of the largest transformations in the capital markets worldwide, Borsa İstanbul’s Equity Market reached a global velocity and capacity and gained a central operation. By the help of the new system which was put into service as part of the project, the fast and smooth introduction of new products became easier; therefore, Borsa İstanbul has become an exchange that is able to compete in the global arena.
