EIRIS (Ethical Investment Research Services Limited) assesses the companies whose shares are traded  on Borsa İstanbul, in accordance with the BIST Sustainability Index Research Methodology, as part of BIST Sustainability Index calculations. Companies which exceed the related thresholds envisaged in the Index Inclusion Criteria are included in the BIST Sustainability Index.

BIST Sustainability Index Research Methodology has been updated in order to reflect the sustainability performances of the banks on sectoral basis. In 2016, banks will be assessed in accordance with the revised BIST Sustainability Index Research Methodology and the assessment reports of the banks, which are in the list of companies subject to assessment in 2016, will include their performances according to the criteria in sectoral basis. However, there hasn’t been any change in Index Inclusion Criteria in “BIST Sustainability Index Ground Rules” and hence Banking Criteria that are newly added for the banking sector will not affect the inclusion of the companies in the index for November 2016 - October 2017 period. For the future periods, it is intended to improve the Index Inclusion Criteria by adding the Banking Criteria.
