Co-location Center Attracts Significant Attention
9/9/2014

Aiming at renewing its technical infrastructure within the framework of its efforts to become a financial hub, Borsa İstanbul announced the establishment of its Primary Data Center (PDC) in April 2014. PDC offers state-of-the-art technology and a secure infrastructure. Firstly, Borsa İstanbul’s own systems moved to PDC and Borsa İstanbul started to operate from PDC. Further, in order that co-location services can be offered, an area to host market participants’ equipment was allocated within PDC.

With co-location, various market participants including Borsa İstanbul Members, High Frequency Trading (HFT)/Algo traders, Service Providers and Data Vendors may now locate their systems near those of Borsa İstanbul, and thereby have access to Borsa İstanbul at the highest speed and security level. Clients using the service will be able to attain a significant level of efficiency in data center operations thanks to the technical infrastructure offered on redundancy basis.

Borsa İstanbul plans to offer high frequency trading with this new technological infrastructure.

In establishing PDC, world practices and market expectations were taken into consideration, and the business model, services to be offered, and prices were determined accordingly.  The General Letter regarding the co-location services was announced on July 9, 2014, and Borsa İstanbul started to receive applications.

Market participants interested in co-location services may access the documents regarding the service by contacting Borsa İstanbul Marketing and Sales Department. Such documents include the technical details of the services to be offered within the scope of co-location services, business model, service agreement, and fee schedule.

Co-location Information Meetings and visits to PDC were arranged in order to inform the market participants about the benefits of co-location services, and two events have been realized at Borsa İstanbul on August 21, and August 28, 2014. Participants were informed on the business model and technical details of Borsa İstanbul co-location service, received answers to their questions, and also visited PDC.
