Borsa İstanbul visited Baku, the Azerbaijan capital, as part of its Listingİstanbul promotion events series. The visit, which was co-organized by Borsa İstanbul Marketing and Sales Department and the Listingİstanbul program partner Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB) lasted three days between October 19-22.

As part of the promotion event, Borsa İstanbul delegation, headed by the Executive Vice President Dr. Mustafa Kemal Yılmaz, as well as the representatives from TSKB carried out one-on-one meetings to leading Azeri companies to provide detailed information in regards to listing on Borsa İstanbul’s respective markets.

In addition to bilateral company visits, the Listingİstanbul delegation paid a visit to the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE), whose 4.76 percent shares belongs to Borsa İstanbul. At the meeting, parties discussed potential cooperation areas to develop capital market activities and cultivate an exchange of technological know-how and best practices.

The meeting concluded with high remarks, and a future co-hosted event has already been scheduled for 2015 in order to make progress on the discussed topics. “Turkey and Azerbaijan have a deep history and have long-lasting relationship both in terms of economic value and cultural perspectives. Many Azerbaijan companies trade with Turkish companies nowadays and vice versa. Therefore collaboration at a high level among our exchanges is not only seen beneficial, but also essential for both economies.” was the comment of a BSE associate.
